Your actions are not small enough

Love or fear?

What is your driver for decisions? There are only two factors which influence your decisions. Love and fear. Sometimes it is a combination. But it does not get any more complicated than this.

Love or fear?

What is your driver for decisions? There are only two factors which influence your decisions. Love and fear. Sometimes it is a combination. But it does not get any more complicated than this.

You want to quit your job: Is it because you fear you are not good enough to become good at the job and therefore be successful or is it because you found the love for a big passion that is pulling you towards a different purpose in life?

Choking under pressure

The best athletes are not only the best, because they are the most skilled or the most conditioned. They are also the ones that do not choke under pressure. Because they are not busy focusing on their fear (what could potentially go wrong), they can focus on the most important part of performing their skill and are therefore more successful doing it.

Avoiding makes your world small and helps the fear grow

Whenever we avoid situations that are scaring us, we are making our world a bit smaller. With every action not taken, we are less likely to take the step in the future.

The way to grow is to take actions that have an uncertain outcome. Small, but uncertain actions lead us to big changes.

It should actually get easier

Create systems that allow diminishing marginal costs

With every additional value creation, the effort for you to create that value should reduce in cost. This can happen through

With every additional value creation, the effort for you to create that value should reduce in cost. This can happen through

  1. Improvement of skill - meaning elimination of the unnecessary and focus on the necessary

  2. Improvement structure - meaning processes and templates to simplify work

  3. Automation - meaning computer code and robots doing work for you

  4. Delegation - meaning other people do work for you

Diversifizieren?

Zinseszins in alles Lebensbeichen

Assertiveness gets you ahead of the curve

What do I mean when I say assertiveness?

Assertiveness is the ability to express your ideas, intentions and desires. When someone asks you, if they can jump the queue and you do not want them to. The right answer would be “no”.

What do I mean when I say assertiveness?

Assertiveness is the ability to express your ideas, intentions and desires. When someone asks you, if they can jump the queue and you do not want them to. The right answer would be “no”.

Pretty simple: Say what you want and not what you think others want you to say.

Why you should be more assertive?

A lot of things in life are not free, but there is way more free stuff than you might think.

  1. Asking for help, advice or support is creating value for yourself and the one who is giving it to you.

  2. Being willing to draw a line in the sand, when someones starts to penetrate your boundaries is the most loving thing you can do to another human being

You give them love by making them aware how they should not treat you, if they want the relationship between the two of you to stay alive.

3. Being honest about your ideas, intentions and wishes creates an environment in people around you feel safe to express theirs as well — this will make life and the interactions in it way easier to navigate.

How will this get me ahead of the curve?

Most problems sound like this:

I want something, but I am not sure if

  • I can ask for it

  • I will be judged for wanting or having it

  • I am able to get it

  • I deserve to get it

As long as other people are hesitating, you can get ahead of them, simply by being assertive.
